ZIMBABWE’s women’s footgolf team is set to make history after being drawn into Group A for the inaugural Women’s Footgolf World Cup, which will be held in Acapulco City, Mexico, from May 27 to June 7, 2026.
The group draw was conducted in Acapulco on February 4, placing Zimbabwe alongside host nation Mexico, Scotland and Turkey in what promises to be a highly competitive pool.
Zimbabwe goes into the tournament ranked fourth in the world in women’s footgolf participation, confirming the country’s growing presence in the sport. The women’s squad includes Beauty Mashave, Betty Mashonganyika, Margial Majoko, Vanessa Munyuki and Linda Wasara. They will be backed by reserve players Beauty Diniwe, Angelica Garira, Margret Vambe and Vupenyu Chitoro.
The national contingent will also feature leading male footgolfers Tadiwanashe Kambizi, Washington Moyo, Samuel Nyambiya and Eleven Kambizi, with reserve players also taking part. The World Cup is expected to attract more than 900 players from across the globe.
Zimbabwe Footgolf is expected to announce its full travelling delegation in the coming days as preparations intensify. The team has lined up a busy build-up programme, which includes participation in the University of Zambia Footgolf Tournament, as well as local competitions in Chimanimani, Falcon, Harry Allen, and at Cam and Motor Mine.
Games chairperson Vanessa Munyuki said the team was proud to be carrying the national flag on the world stage but appealed for assistance to make the trip possible.
“We are thrilled to be representing Zimbabwe on the world stage and we are appealing for financial support from well-wishers to help make our dream a reality,” Munyuki said.
