Kadzombe Salutes Sporting Success as LA28 Volleyball Qualifiers Conclude

COUNCILOR Kudzai Kadzombe, Information and Publicity Committee Chairperson representing the Mayor of Harare, has hailed the successful hosting of the CAVB Senior Nations Championship, Zone VI, LA28 Olympic Qualifiers, where Zimbabwe’s senior men’s volleyball team claimed gold against Zambia, while the women’s team secured silver.

The tournament, hosted in Harare over the weekend, brought together teams from Malawi, Namibia, and Zambia in a high-level regional competition that showcased elite volleyball talent and strong sporting rivalry.

Kadzombe said the event reflected Harare’s commitment to sport as a unifying force and development tool.

“We are honoured to host our brothers and sisters from Malawi, Namibia, and Zambia, and we trust that your stay in Harare has been both comfortable and memorable,” she said, adding that sport promotes youth development, cultural exchange, and regional integration.

She praised the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association (ZVA) for successfully staging an internationally recognised tournament that elevated the city’s sporting profile.

“We commend the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association and all partners for bringing this important tournament to our city, contributing to its vibrancy and positioning Harare as a destination for international sporting events,” Kadzombe said.

She congratulated all athletes for their performance, noting their discipline and sportsmanship, and wished them safe travels as the championship concluded.
