Delta launches centenary Siyinqaba Lager for Highlanders

DELTA Beverages has launched a limited edition Siyinqaba Lager to mark Highlanders Football Club’s 100th anniversary, bringing the Bulawayo club’s black and white identity to a commemorative beer brewed in its home city.

The 750ml lager, priced at a recommended retail price of US$1.30, will be distributed mainly in Bulawayo and the wider Matabeleland region as Highlanders celebrate a century since their founding in 1926.

The name Siyinqaba, meaning “We Are The Fortress”, reflects the solidarity and pride associated with the club and its supporters, many of whom have followed Highlanders across generations.

Delta said the commemorative packaging features the club’s iconic black and white colours and was developed with input from selected members of the Highlanders administration.

The beer is brewed and packaged at Delta Beverages’ Belmont plant in Bulawayo, keeping production close to the club and the community at the centre of the centenary celebrations.

The launch also recognises the role supporters have played in sustaining Highlanders’ place in Zimbabwean football. In 2025, a Highlanders fan won the Castle Lager Super Fan of the Year competition, an achievement Delta cited as a reflection of the loyalty surrounding the club.

Founded in 1926, Highlanders has remained a central part of Bulawayo’s sporting and cultural life. The centenary offers the club and its followers an opportunity to reflect on that history while looking ahead to the next chapter.

The commemorative Siyinqaba Lager will be available at participating outlets, with distribution focused on Bulawayo and Matabeleland.
