Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup Returns to Troutbeck Resort

BONAQUA Africa Triathlon Cup will return to Nyanga’s Troutbeck Resort on March 8 organizers announced Wednesday, with elite athletes from across Africa and beyond set to compete in the scenic Eastern Highlands region of Zimbabwe. 

Sponsored by Coca-Cola’s Bonaqua water brand, the event will feature swimming, cycling, and running segments, emphasizing both elite competition and community engagement. This marks the latest iteration of the annual race, which aims to promote athleticism and environmental appreciation. 

Bonaqua, the event’s official hydration partner, will provide water stations for athletes during the physically demanding triathlon. 

The company’s Senior Marketing Manager for Zimbabwe and Malawi, Barry Otieno, highlighted the synergy between hydration and endurance sports.

“Our dedication to quality aligns with the triathlon’s demands,” Otieno said.

Longtime co-sponsors include Troutbeck Resort, CFAO, IGO, EcoCash, Simbisa Brands, MCM Legal, and Rooney’s. Organizers credited their sustained support for enabling the event’s growth. 

The triathlon will cater to athletes of all skill levels, with registration now open online. Competitors are urged to secure spots early for the event, which traditionally draws hundreds of participants and spectators. 

Beyond competition, the cup emphasizes fostering community ties and exhibiting Zimbabwe’s natural landscapes. Nyanga’s mountainous terrain and freshwater reservoirs provide a challenging yet picturesque backdrop for the races.
