THE 2026 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season will roar into life on 1 March with the return of the Castle Lager Challenge Cup at Rufaro Sports Stadium in Mbare.
The season-opening clash will bring together league champions Scottland FC and Chibuku Super Cup holders Dynamos FC, in what promises to be a thrilling contest between two of the country’s most followed sides.
The annual Challenge Cup traditionally signals the start of a new football campaign, and this year’s edition is expected to draw a large crowd. Both clubs boast loyal supporters, and the fixture is likely to ignite the familiar rivalry that has defined Zimbabwean football in recent seasons.
For Scottland FC, the match offers a chance to confirm their growing status as a rising powerhouse after clinching back-to-back league titles in 2024 and 2025. For Dynamos FC, one of Zimbabwe’s most decorated football institutions, it is an opportunity to assert their experience and pedigree early in the season after lifting the 2025 Chibuku Super Cup.
Beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch, organisers have added a community-focused dimension to the event. The 2026 Castle Lager Challenge Cup will include a US$5,000 community initiative, with the winning team nominating a community that will benefit from the drilling of a borehole. The project is aimed at improving access to clean water and reinforcing the tournament’s broader social impact.
