Chigwida, Chari leave Unforgettable Mark at ZCC Church Gala

CONTEMPORARY Gospel chanter Prince Chigwida put up a spirited performance at the inaugural Zion Christian Church (ZCC) Youth Church gala held in Masvingo-Mbungo last week, will probably go down as one of the highlights of proving his worth when it comes to live performances.
His one-hour scintillating performance at the 2025 Youth Gala, the Mazambara hit-maker proved that he is a force to reckon with as he sent the crowd into delirium.
Thousand congregants at the church, who were celebrating their 2025 Youth Conference, which is done yearly, had to put aside their Bibles for a while and slide into jubilation as the Ndireverere Ndipone star took them through his yesteryear hit songs.
He belted out jams such as Gore rino, Ndiringei Mambo and Tidurirei Ngoni among other songs that brought the roof down at the venue packed by a crowd of close to 40 000 people.
Speaking soon after the show, the young energetic artiste said he was moved by the people of ZCC and highlighted that those who made the event possible should also be thanked, as we need more of these galas each year.
“Firstly, I would want to thank Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi who accorded those who created the event for us musicians to come and perform at one of the biggest churches not only in Zimbabwe but in the world.
“When I heard that there were organizers, namely Jasper Mangwana, Tungamirai Mashandure and Prince Meke, a renowned event planner, planning the church gala, I thought it would not come true since we had never heard of such an event. Over the years, we would perform for very few minutes during church service, but this time around it was our time to shine and stamp the church gala on the map”, he said.
Sungura and Contemporary gospel star, Obert Chari, also wowed the crowds at the same event and left the congregants asking for more.
The Munyengeri hit-maker got people singing along and exhibited theatrical stage craft.
The ZCC Youth Chairperson Jasper Mangwana, highlighted that the church’s objective was to tame all the youths by bringing entertainment for them and at the same time getting them to God.
“As a church, we want to promote good values. We want to weed out the bad habits, including violence among our youths, discourage the use of drugs, and promote societal cohesion. We are therefore using entertainment so that we get to them and teach them the gospel of salvation, as well as inculcate good morals.
“We also had to invite the musicians so that people know that outside Harare, we can still have great places of convergence for the good work of the Lord. We had high-profile people who were with us, and we wrapped up the day with healing and deliverance of thousands of people,” he said.
The co-MC and Stage Manager of the show, Prince Meke highlighted that similar shows would be lined up at the ZCC church, saying the church was gratified that the main objective had been achieved.
“It is one of the church’s duties to promote peace, unity, and national healing. A lot of youths were inspired by the performances, and we are confident that they will want to pursue music and leave bad behaviour. That is our mission as event organizers. Since our formation, we have done great things for a lot of churches, and we are committed to doing more,” he said.
