Chiredzi Gears Up for Chibuku Neshamwari Dance Festival
TRADITIONAL dance fever is set to grip Chiredzi this weekend as the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival makes its next provincial stop in Masvingo Province.
The event will take place on Saturday, at Masiza Nengere Bar, where local dance groups will take to the stage, exhibiting their skills and cultural pride in a bid to win top honours and represent the province at the national finals in July.
Running under the energetic theme “Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari! Tshay’sgubhu Mngane!”, this year’s edition of the long-running festival continues to bring Zimbabweans together in a celebration of dance, heritage, and community.
Winners on the day will walk away with USD2,500 for first place, USD1,500 for second, and USD1,000 for third, along with a chance to compete for the national grand prize of USD15,000.
Organised in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association, the festival has already delivered exciting displays in other provinces, with powerful performances and emotional crowd moments.
