DELTA Corporation Limited hosted a prestigious send-off ceremony at their headquarters in Borrowdale, to bid farewell to the University of Zimbabwe, the national champion of Enactus Zimbabwe, as they embark on a journey to represent their country at the Enactus World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan early October.
The University of Zimbabwe’s innovative project, Aqua Flora, stole the show at the national competition in July, which saw over 250 delegates in attendance at the Celebration Centre.
The project’s unique approach to addressing environmental sustainability and promoting social innovation has earned them a spot at the coveted global event.
Aqua Flora tackles the pressing issue of Water Hyacinth infestation in Zimbabwe’s water bodies, while simultaneously creating opportunities in the local furniture industry.
By collaborating with government agencies, local communities, and stakeholders, the project collects and processes Water Hyacinth to produce high-quality, lightweight Hydra boards for furniture production.
The Enactus World Cup, scheduled to take place from October 1- 4, is a premier platform that brings together the best of the best from 35 countries, featuring innovative minds and social innovators.
The event provides a unique opportunity for networking with leading business leaders and academics, with past events graced by dignitaries such as former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former African Union Chairperson Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma.
The send-off ceremony, hosted by Delta Corporation, was a fitting tribute to UZ team’s achievement, and a testament to the company’s commitment to supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in Zimbabwe.
