HARARE City Queens cruised to a convincing 5-1 victory over Midlands State University (MSU) Queens in their Week 23 encounter of the Heart Women Soccer League.
The Lady Citizens showed their class as the visiting team, racing to a 3-0 lead by halftime before ultimately winning.
The scoring was opened in the 13th minute when Harare City’s Eunice Chibanda converted a well-taken penalty to put her side ahead. The lead was then doubled in the 29th minute through a goal by Marlylen Magozore, and just a minute later, Mitchell Muhambi made it 3-0 to the visitors.
MSU managed to pull one back before the break, with Munashe Muzira scoring a consolation goal for the home team. However, Harare City continued to pile on the pressure in the second half. Mitchell John found the back of the net in the 57th minute to make it 4-1, and Bokani Sibanda added a fifth and final goal for the Lady Citizens in the dying moments of the match.
The contest was officiated flawlessly by referee Linet Moyo and her assistants, Shamiso Sanyanga and Sibusisiwe Moyo, with no cautions issued to either side throughout the encounter.
Harare City Queens’ comprehensive victory on the road serves as a strong statement of intent, solidifying their position as a force to be reckoned with in the Heart Women Soccer League.
