Legendary Sungura Musician Nicholas Zakaria Passes Away

NICHOLAS Zakaria, the renowned Sungura musician affectionately known as ‘Senior Lecturer,’ has died, according to a statement shared on his social media pages. His passing has left a profound void in the hearts of many, with fans and loved ones mourning the loss of a musical icon.
The sombre news was announced via an official family statement, which highlighted Zakaria’s immense contribution to Zimbabwe’s musical landscape. “Nicholas left an indelible mark on the music world with his inspiring voice and dedication to his craft,” the statement read. “His legacy will live on through his music, and he will be deeply missed by fans and loved ones.”
Zakaria was a cornerstone of the vibrant Sungura scene, celebrated for his distinctive vocals and his role as a mentor and beloved community figure. Tributes have poured in on social media and from fellow artists, testament to the deep connection he forged through his work.
