Our culture is all what we got says Mwanawevhu Culture Association 4ED
MWANAWEVHU Culture Association for Economic Development has taken a significant storm on the drive to implement cultural norms, supporting the vision 2030 agenda by promoting Zimbabwe’s traditional old ways of living.
Speaking today in Darwendale at the Anti Drugs & Early Marriages campaign hosted by community in collaboration with Mwanawevhu Culture 4ED, its National Secretary General Prince Meke said the organization complement President Mnangagwa’s vision of (Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo) the country is build by its origins.
“Zimbabwe’s culture is dynamic, evolving and deeply interwoven with its people’s national identity hence it is important for all citizens to champion and promote national heritage.
“Recognising our old ways of living and implementing these traditions to this modern generation will harness and preserve our culture. Zimbabwe should be proud of their culture, just like what South Africans and Nigerians do.
“Iam happy that even our First lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa and the President himself encourages us to wear a national cultural dress as to ensure that future generations would inherit a legacy of pride and cultural consciousness,” said Meke.
The young and energetic National Secretary General went on to highlight that Mwanawevhu Culture Association will contribute to the sports, arts activities, cultural, social, and economic development of the country at large.
“We are not only focusing on abusive drug substance and early marriages. We are here to promote and groom talent from a tender age by engaging participants in various cultural activities.
“Actors, musicians, dance groups, chef’s to say but a few you are all welcome to join the association. So long what you are implementing aims to promote cultural identity will support you even financially,” said Meke.
The leader of the community group, Dennis Mukoko highlighted that as the nation battles drug abuse they will work in hand with other relevant stakeholders including the government and other groups such as Mwanawevhu Culture 4ED address these challenges.
“We are here to promote cultural identity, address social issues, foster community cohesion and support national development including the President ED Mnangagwa’s mantra of vision 2030.
“Its sad that we still battle with social issues like early child marriages, drug and substance abuse which is one of our priorities in restoring a better Zimbabwe.
“Lets put our hands together and we welcome any organization that is willing to contribute in addressing social challenges affecting our culture and traditional ways of living including our food.
Recently in Masvingo at Masvingo Polytechnic Mwanawevhu Culture 4ED National Chairperson Ashleigh Zingoni went on to teach young girls and woman to implement traditional foods in their cuisine. It was during a Mwanawevhu Culture 4ED Young Girls and Woman Festival which is on the drive to harness cultural norms and complementing traditional Zimbabwe food with other continental cuisine, as the strategy is to bring back the old Zimbabwean taste.
During the festival there were a lot of traditional dance groups showcasing their talent including musicians, actors and tailors who have taken part in making Zimbabwe’s cultural heritage clothes for both men and women.
On a sideline interview with one of the dancers Tariro Munamato who graced the event who leads the Kwazvakatangira Dancers said the decision to wear our cultural uniform at today’s festival is rooted in our collective commitment to preserve and showcase the rich tapestry of Zimbabwean culture.
“Our attire is more than fabric and design as it is a representation of our history, values and aspirations.
“It embodies the resilience of our people, the vibrancy of our traditions, and the unity that binds us together as a nation. By embracing our national dress, we reaffirm Zimbabwe’s place in the global dialogue on cultural preservation and appreciation,” she said.
The Mwanawevhu Culture Association is a ZANU PF affiliate group which is a valuable organization that promotes cultural preservation and development in nurturing talent among children, youths, war veterans, young women and men.
By engaging participants in various cultural activities, the association aims to promote cultural identity, address social issues, foster community cohesion and support national development including the President ED Mnangagwa mantra of vision 2030.
This week Mwanawevhu Culture Association will be on the drive to focus on encouraging historical recipes and cooking techniques and implementing Indigenous fashion dress.
