Victoria Falls Bound: NRZ’s Passenger Train Service Returns
NATIONAL Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ) has announced the long-awaited return of its passenger train service between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, marking the end of a four-year suspension that began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
This move is set to revolutionize transportation in the country, providing a convenient and affordable option for both locals and tourists.
The first trip is scheduled to depart Bulawayo on Friday at 19:00, arriving in Victoria Falls on Saturday at 10:00. The return journey from Victoria Falls to Bulawayo will depart on Sunday at 19:00, arriving on Monday at 10:00.
The economy class fare for this route will be US$9 per adult, making it an attractive option for those looking to explore the country’s scenic destinations.
In addition to this route, NRZ operates the Harare–Mutare passenger service, which departs Harare every Friday at 20:00, reaching Mutare at 06:00 on Saturday, and returns on Sunday at 20:00, arriving in Harare at 06:00 on Monday. The economy fare for this journey is US$5 per adult.
The resumption of the Bulawayo–Victoria Falls route is expected to boost domestic tourism and regional connectivity, benefiting both local commuters and international visitors heading to Victoria Falls, one of the world’s top tourist attractions. The route passes through scenic destinations in western Zimbabwe, offering breathtaking views and a unique travel experience.
