DELTA deepened its long-standing partnership with St Matthew’s Rusike Children’s Home on Tuesday by handing over infrastructure and sustainability projects worth about US$10,000, reaffirming its commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable children and strengthening community development.
The donation, officially handed over at the children’s home, comprises security, education, water, renewable energy and income generating projects designed to improve living conditions while promoting the institution’s long term self reliance.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Delta Corporation General Manager Corporate Affairs Patricia Murambinda said the investment reflected the company’s belief that sustainable development begins with investing in people.
“We are not simply handing over infrastructure and equipment. We are investing in people. We are investing in children. We are investing in a future where every child has the opportunity to grow in a safe, healthy and nurturing environment,” Murambinda said.
She said Delta’s relationship with the children’s home had grown into a partnership focused on creating lasting social impact.
“Over the years, Delta Corporation has had the privilege of walking alongside St Matthew’s Rusike Children’s Home on its development journey. Together, we have witnessed what is possible when communities, institutions and business unite behind a common purpose.”
The package includes the installation of a CCTV security system to improve the safety of children and staff, support towards the construction of a classroom block, partial solarisation of the children’s home and school, and the installation of a shed net for the greenhouse to enhance agricultural production.
Delta also supported the solarisation of the first borehole, additional assistance for a second borehole, piping infrastructure and water storage tanks to improve access to clean water.
To strengthen the institution’s sustainability initiatives, the company also funded repairs to the piggery, poultry facilities and fish ponds, projects expected to enhance food security and generate income for the home.
Murambinda said the interventions formed part of Delta’s broader sustainability agenda, which extends beyond environmental stewardship to improving livelihoods in communities across Zimbabwe.
“These are not isolated interventions. They form part of a long standing partnership aimed at building resilience, self reliance and opportunity.”
“At Delta Corporation, sustainability is not simply about protecting the environment. It is about creating shared value for society. It is about ensuring that communities have access to water, education, food security, renewable energy and economic opportunities that improve lives for generations to come.”
She said the company’s community investments were guided by the belief that businesses thrive when surrounding communities also prosper.

Murambinda also paid tribute to the management and caregivers at St Matthew’s Rusike Children’s Home for their commitment to nurturing vulnerable children.
“Every day, you provide much more than shelter. You provide love, guidance, stability and hope to children who deserve every opportunity to realise their full potential.”
Addressing the children, she encouraged them not to allow their circumstances to define their future.
“Never allow your circumstances to define your future. Within each one of you lies enormous potential. Continue to dream boldly, work diligently, value your education and believe that your future is brighter than your present. Zimbabwe needs your talents, your ideas and your leadership.”
Murambinda reaffirmed Delta’s commitment to forging enduring partnerships that contribute to national development through investments that promote education, food security, renewable energy, clean water and sustainable livelihoods.
“The true measure of any organisation is not only the products it makes, but the positive difference it leaves in the lives of people and the communities it serves,” she said.
