Chauluka to pick Zim A match by match against Ireland A

ZIMBABWE A head coach Eric Chauluka says selection for the series against Ireland A will be decided one match at a time, with the aim of giving as many players as possible game time across the seven fixtures.

“Continuity is important because players need opportunities to build momentum, but at the same time this tour is also about exposing as many players as possible to competitive cricket,” Chauluka said.

“We’ll assess workloads, conditions, and performance throughout the series before making decisions. The objective is to achieve the right balance between team performance and player development.”

Zimbabwe Cricket has named a 15-member squad for the two four-day matches at Harare Sports Club, while the squad for the five one-day matches is yet to be announced.

Chauluka said selection had not been based on form alone, with the coaching staff also considering players’ potential to progress to the senior national team.

“Form is obviously important, but we’re also looking at players who can potentially progress to the next level,” he said.

“We’ve tried to create a balanced squad with experienced performers alongside younger players who have consistently shown promise. We also wanted specialists in key roles because international cricket demands players who understand and can execute specific responsibilities under pressure.”

The first four-day match runs from Thursday to Sunday, with the second scheduled for November 12 to 15.

The one-day series will be played at Old Hararians Sports Club on November 18, 20 and 22 before moving to Harare Sports Club for the final two matches on November 25 and 27.

Zimbabwe A squad: Johnathan Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Takudzwa Chataira, Victor Chirwa, Michael Frost, Trevor Gwandu, Roy Kaia, Takudzwanashe Kaitano, Clive Madande, Tanunurwa Makoni, Tinotenda Maposa, Kudzai Maunze, Shelton Mazvitorera, Dion Myers, Panashe Taruvinga.
