FORMER Dynamos topman Takunda Mawarire has signed a one year contract with Debmarine Premiership side Bucks Buccaneers after an alleged unjust treatment by former club Fc Wangu Mazodze.
The FC Wangu Mazodze owner Richard Wangu Mazodze is alleged to have coerced the former Central Region Division One top goal scorer to write a contract termination letter in their favour upon approaching the club executive for a clearance.
KEIZ Sports Management Director Kudakwashe Garufu and manager to Yaya, as Mawarire is affectionately known in local football circles confirmed the deal and the aforementioned squabbles.
“Takunda Mawarire penned a one year contract with newly promoted side Bucks Buccaneers Fc based in Windhoek Namibia. It’s going to be a pacesetter for us here at KEIZ and for the career of the lad,” he said.
Garufu added that the boy is excited to taste new waters. However, he showed disdain on how football is managed at Fc Wangu Mazodze popularly known as Zhalala Zhululu, ‘a spaza shop management’ he called it.
“The boy is very excited with the change of environment considering that he was coming from Wangu Mazodze where football is handled like a spaza shop,” said Garufu.
“They had arrears and pending payments but the way they wanted to handle the matter was unprofessional and a disgrace to player’s and football as a whole.”
Entersportnews understands that Fc Wangu Mazodze had back payments of Mawarire.
As per contract agreement season the highly spoken red and blue outfit was supposed to own up winning bonus and monthly payments.
This publication understands that Mawarire had arrears dating three months back.
According to Mawarire FC Wangu Mazodze then directed him state that he had no back payments in his contract termination letter.
When contacted for a comment Mawarire who is now in Namibia appreciated the time he spent at Fc Wangu Mazodze however, crying out on the final unfair treatment from the paymasters.
“To Mazodze family I say thank you for the season but I want to say that my former family did not treat me well. They did not pay me my back payments and they also told me to write a contract termination letter in their favor,” Mawarire said.
“They told me to write that they don’t owe me anything, that the books are clean and balanced.”
The issue has already been transferred to the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe (FUZ).
Efforts to contact Fc Wangu Mazodze owner Richard Wangu Mazodze were fruitless as his cell was unreachable.
Mawarire’s delight is profuse and his goal is to score consistently.
“It’s a new environment altogether and to all my fans I promise that l will score goals. I have a target and l want to complete that target,” said the Kwekwe born striker.
Mawarire’s initial rise to fame was at Fc Platinum Under 19, a division academy youth side for Pure Platinum Play, Fc Platinum.
He went on sign for Dynamos alongside dribbling wizard Tanaka Chidhobha and lanky midfielder Phineas Mutsetse.
He has also played for Triangle FC, the now defunct ZPC Munyati and FC Wangu Mazodze.
“Rusitu Tigers central defender Prosper Chari is also at the Bucks to tryout his luck. As KEIZ we wish him the best of luck,” added Garufu.
