Khama aims for Triathlon gold

VETERAN Milton “Khama” Kamangira is a force to be reckoned with in the triathlon world.

At 54 years old, he’s still going strong, with a passion for the sport that’s only grown stronger with time.

As a member of the Schweppes Holdings Africa Limited (SHAL) Triathlon Corporate Challenge team, Khama has been competing in the Bonaqua Triathlon African Cup for four years now. And he is hooked.

“What keeps me coming back is the unique combination of camaraderie, personal growth, and the thrill of pushing my limits alongside inspiring teammates and competitors,” said Kamangira.

“The sense of achievement and pride in representing my company, while contributing to the vibrant triathlon community, makes this event a highlight of my year.”

For Khama, the highlights of his experience with the Triathlon Corporate Challenge team are many. From the weekly Sunday challenges at Mt Pleasant Pool in Harare to the exhilarating final cup at Troutbeck Resort, every event brings its unique joy and sense of accomplishment.

But it is not just about the competition – it’s about the community, the camaraderie, and the personal growth that comes with pushing oneself to new limits.

Personally, Khama says that participating in the Triathlon Corporate Challenge has helped him achieve and maintain overall body fitness. Training daily has improved his physical health, reduced stress, and even impacted his work ethic and ability to handle challenges.

Professionally, the discipline and resilience he’s developed through triathlon training have positively impacted his work ethic and ability to handle challenges.

So, what are Khama’s expectations and goals for this weekend’s Triathlon Corporate Challenge?

“Gold! Gold!! Gold!!!” Kamangira exclaims.

“My goal is clear: I’m aiming for the top of the podium, and I won’t be taking it easy on the competition.”

Khama’s advice to fellow participants or those considering joining the challenge is simple: “Join us in Nyanga for the Bonaqua Triathlon African Cup. The more participants we have, the greater the energy and excitement. This event is not just about competition – it’s about coming together as a community, challenging ourselves, and having fun while celebrating fitness and teamwork.”

The media team has suffered a blow ahead of this year’s corporate challenge, as their star swimmer Munyaradzi Madzokere has fallen ill. Madzokere, who was key to the team’s swimming hopes, developed sickness during a practice session in the open waters of Troutbeck.

As a result, the media team has been forced to withdraw from the competition, dealing a significant setback to their chances.
