Obert Chari tours the country as he places Sungura & Gospel music on the map
SUNGURA and Afro Traditional Gospel superstar Obert Chari has embarked on the drive to perform live concerts in every city and town in the country, as he places Sungura and Gospel music on the map.
The Hakireni Stars leader has proved himself a name to reckon with in the music industry by a number of collaborations he has including “Munyengeri” featuring superster Jah Praizah, “Bamunini Dee” featuring legend Leonard Zhakata, “Makoti” featuring classic comedian Comic Pastor, and worked with a number of producers such Mambo Hermas, Makumbe Production, Rodney Cleanshizzle, Cymblex pro and famous Gweru producer DJ Tamuka to mention but a few.
Speaking to our Arts & Entertainment reporter Prince Meke, today the Mebo hitmaker said he is actually going to embark on the mission to tour around Zimbabwe raising the Sungura and Traditional-Gospel music.
“Iam happy to be on the drive to perfom in different towns and cities around the country. l have to take this opportunity serious as l want to put not only my album but sungura music on the map. Yes l have got songs which everyone fits in and believe me if fans and music promoters continue to support me definitely will place Traditional music on the map.
“I have already launched Ngoma Ndiyo Ndiyo Album in Harare. Yes the fans received it well and that alone gave me more energy to make more music.
“lam coming for you Chiredzi, Bulawayo, Chegutu, Gweru, Mutare, Masvingo, Chinhoyi, and if it goes well my wish is to perform live in Gokwe, Kariba, Beitbridge, Bindura, Gutu and all parts of the country. My management will be working with music promoters so that everyone finds a glimpse of the album at their perusal.
“Thanks to Boss Phinmat Matanda who is managing the Hakireni Stars as we are also launching the album even at radio stations such as Star FM, National FM, Power FM and on television such as ZTN, ZBC and 3KTV.
Obert Chari who has an Honors Degree in African Languages and Culture with Midlands State University (MSU) went on to highlight that he looks forward to capitalise on the fame of other musicians to share stage for the benefit of listeners.
Recently, on his social media handle, The Zion Christian Church (ZCC Mbungo) renowned philanthropist Obert Chari released a video of himself applauding the great works of other notable artistes who played a pivotal role in shaping Zimbabwean music and endorsing the current trending artists and promoters to continue working together adding value to the country’s music.
The Hakireni Stars leader recently released “Ngoma Ndiyo Ndiyo”, an album that has attracted attention and improved his music rating in the country.
“Ngoma Ndiyo Ndiyo” is an album pencilled with 6 tracks that include “Ruvengo,” “Munyengeri,” which features Jah Praizah, “Ngoma Ndiyo Ndiyo,” “Kura uone,” “Babamunini Dee” which features Leonard Zhakata and “VaTezvara” which has been making noise on social media including on Tik Tok.
The song, “VaTezvara” is already topping the charts on local radio stations, is a concoction of Afro-beat and traditional-sungura music. It was put together by Mambo Hermas who is also the producer of his hit songs such as “Hamuna Moyo” and “Mebo Mebo” to mention but a few.
Mambo Hermas, who always seems to be under some kind of trance when producing Orbet Chari’s songs.
The refreshing track instantly enslaves one in a fugue of melodic harmonies, hip-swaying instrumentals and awe-inspiring vocals.
Obert Chari’s Ngoma YaBaba album, was widely praised as a classic, solidifying his place as one of Zimbabwe’s Gospel and Sungura top artists and earning him numerous accolades.
However, will Obert Chari mentain his spot as a top musician? Will all wait for the next projects and albums to come as the fans and music experts will testify.
Obert Chari has shared stage with quite a number of musicians including Mark Ngwazi, Jonah Chivasa, King David formely (Baba Harare), Prince Chigwida, Aleck Macheso and Baba na Mai Charamba, whose influence has pushed Hakireni Stars leader to grow bigger.
