Simuniziva Wins Mat North Chibuku Road to Fame

THE Chibuku Road to Fame music competition came to Matabeleland North over the weekend, and the crowd was treated to exciting performances from local groups.

Simuniziva, an Afro-fusion band, came out on top and took first place. They will now represent the province at the national finals later this year.

Second place went to Abelifa the Inheritors, who impressed the judges with their performance. Zambezi Fusion came third.

All three groups won cash prizes, USD2,500 for first place, USD1,500 for second, and USD1,000 for third. The top three also earned a chance to compete at the National Grand Finale on October 4, where the best 10 groups in the country will battle for the top prize of USD15,000 and a recording contract.

This year’s competition celebrates 25 years of discovering and promoting Zimbabwean music talent. It is run by Delta Corporation through the Chibuku brand, in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ).
