TAKASHINGA 2 produced a clinical all round display to secure an emphatic eight wicket victory over Scorpions Cricket Club in their 2026 National Premier League encounter at Takashinga Cricket Club on Friday, with their disciplined seam attack laying the perfect platform before Liam Mudenda anchored a comfortable chase.
Having elected to bat, Scorpions never recovered from a relentless opening spell by Takashinga’s new ball bowlers as they were dismissed for just 94 in 20.5 overs.
Usher Garwe struck twice inside the opening eight overs to remove Takunda Madembo for 16 and Tafadzwa Mahachi for a duck, leaving the visitors under immediate pressure.
Daichi Nyandoro then tightened his grip on the innings with a superb spell of three for 27 from seven overs. He accounted for Winfred Matende (10), Jimmy Nyangoni (6) and captain Derrick Sadoki, who fell without scoring, as wickets continued to tumble.
Shelton Mazvitorera matched Nyandoro’s three wicket haul with an equally effective spell of three for 18, dismissing Tinashe Chiorah for 13, Praise Makaza for a duck and Vincent Moyo.
Tanatswa Chisvo wrapped up the innings with two wickets, including the prized scalp of wicketkeeper Calvin Mubvute, who top scored with 20, while Fortune Mhlanga remained unbeaten on 20 as Scorpions folded for 94.
Takashinga 2 wasted little time asserting their dominance with the bat.
Although Blessing Machiha removed Tanunurwa Makoni for 13 before dismissing Kupakwashe Muradzi without scoring, Liam Mudenda ensured there would be no further alarms.
The elegant left hander compiled a composed unbeaten 53 from 40 deliveries, striking seven boundaries while pacing the chase to perfection.
Captain Baxon Gopito provided positive support with an unbeaten 24 from only 20 balls as the pair added an unbroken 61 run partnership for the third wicket.
Takashinga reached 98 for two in only 12 overs, sealing victory with 22 overs to spare and strengthening their momentum in the National Premier League campaign.
