Msipa Retires After Steering Schweppes Through Two Dynamic Decades

SCHWEPPES Holdings Africa Limited has announced the upcoming retirement of its long-serving Managing Director, Charles Nkululeko Msipa.

This will mark the end of a remarkable 20-year journey with the company.

Msipa will step down at the end of April 2025, leaving a legacy of resilience, transformation, and strategic growth. He joined Schweppes Zimbabwe Limited in 2005 as Sales and Marketing Director before being appointed Managing Director a year later.

Before his time at Schweppes, Msipa spent 13 years at The Coca-Cola Company, holding various roles across Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and the United States.

His rich experience in the beverage industry laid the foundation for his impactful leadership at Schweppes.

One of his most significant contributions came in 2009, when he led the successful localisation of the company’s shareholding, opening ownership to management and employees.

This move not only aligned with national economic goals but also deepened employee commitment and company culture.

Under his guidance, Schweppes weathered some of Zimbabwe’s most challenging economic conditions. Key milestones during his tenure include the establishment of the Beitbridge Juicing Company and the broadening of the company’s product portfolio, strategic moves that positioned Schweppes as a resilient and forward-thinking player in the beverage industry.

Beyond the boardroom, Msipa has been an influential figure in the wider business community. He is a former president of the Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries (CZI), past chairman of the Business Council for Sustainable Development Zimbabwe, the PET Recycling Company of Zimbabwe, and the National Competitiveness Commission.

He has also served as a non-executive director on several boards.
