Winky D proves his dominance Internationally

ONE of the most celebrated music icon in the country, and Zimdancehall legend Winky D, born Wallace Chirumiko, is set to enthrall music fans in the United Kingdom (UK) with two highly anticipated performances in Redbourn, Hertfordshire and Birmingham, as part of his upcoming 30 August Ndavhura Hombe Live concert.
Also known as the Gafa, Winky D told his fans during the Zim fest show in UK that they should expect more at Alex Sports Club as standards have improved and expectations from fans are high.
“The emerging of new fans joining the old fans is good for Vigilance Music and it keeps Winky D and the brand for better quality. Times have changed and its time to keep up with the times as music has evolved to better standards. If not now lets meet 30 August Gafa and the Vigilance making history in Harare,” he said.
The Zimfest live concert, which kicked off in London with the spectacular launch of the upcoming Winky D Ndavhura Hombe live concert, promises to be a resounding success.
“For my new compositions, I get inspired mostly by life experiences and the ability to observe what would be happening in society. Also, challenges I would have gone through or experiences of different subject matter inspire my creativity when making new music.”
The Regional multi-award-winning singer said songs like “Ijipita”, “Mangerengere, “Gafa life”, “Twenty five”, the recent collaboration with Bling 4 “Pabho”, are songs inspires by life experiences.
“Im going to honor the recent Chitungwiza accidents victims with the song (Panorwadza moyo) which was a collaboration with the late Dr Oliver Mtukudzi,” he explained.
Winky D has received awards both locally and internationally. He has been nominated alongside such other big names in the international entertainment industry as Buju Banton and Patoranking.
Winky D, a musician with a long nom de guerre list which includes Gafa, Bigman and Ninja president continues to loom large in the entertainment industry.
The artiste, who occasionally kicks up controversy through his stinging jibes at societal injustices through his hard-hitting songs, is a darling to many people who adore his fashion taste and powerful music whose genesis is the ghetto.
To date, Winky D has released a number of albums and has collaborated with an array of artistes across genres both local and international, among them Jamaican dancehall artiste Beenieman on the track “My woman”.
