HERENTALS Queens head coach, Simbarashe Dedza, has welcomed the CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers draw, declaring his team’s eagerness to conquer at the continental stage.
The Zimbabwean champions were drawn in Group C alongside Mozambican top side Costa do Sol and Olympic De Moroni of Comoros. The tournament is scheduled to run from August 22 to 31 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“The team’s chances are there, and we are confident that we can do it. We don’t have to underrate the opponents because they are champions from their leagues,” Dedza told NewsOnLine.
“On our part, we are ready for the competition, and the preparations are going well. We’re expecting greatness and success.”
Dedza, however, is hoping that the girls tighten their defensive screws and find their scoring form to boost their chances of making an impression in South Africa.
“Specific strategies or preparations for us include creating goal-scoring opportunities and converting them. A high level of fitness is also a top priority.”
