Zim Cricket Boss Predicts Positive Outlook of The Game

ZIMBABW Cricket (ZC) chairperson Tavengwa Mukuhlani has expressed confidence in the future of the sport, even amid recent challenges.

Speaking at Harare Sports Club yesterday, Mukuhlani said, “We are working hard to develop cricket in Zimbabwe, and I am confident that we will see a resurgence in the sport’s popularity and success.”

He added, “We are committed to providing our players with the necessary support and resources to excel on the international stage.”

The ICC board member stressed the importance of investing in grassroots cricket, pointing to the need for improved infrastructure, coaching, and training facilities. “We are working to identify and nurture young talent, and provide them with the opportunities they need to succeed,” he said.

One of ZC’s key initiatives is developing cricket programs in schools and communities. “We believe that cricket should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or location,” Mukuhlani said. “We are working to promote the sport in schools and communities, and provide opportunities for young players to develop their skills.”

Addressing criticism from some quarters, including Bulawayo Mayor David Coltart, Mukuhlani said, “While we appreciate the passion and interest in cricket, we believe that constructive criticism and support would be more beneficial to the sport’s development.”

He continued, “We understand that there are challenges, but we are working hard to address them. We would appreciate it if stakeholders and critics could work with us to find solutions, rather than just pointing out problems.”

The Chairman also emphasised ZC’s commitment to transparency and accountability. “We are working to build a strong foundation for cricket in Zimbabwe, and we believe that this will pay dividends in the long run,” he said.

Despite challenges, Mukuhlani remains confident in the talent of Zimbabwean cricketers. “We have a talented pool of players, and with the right support and resources, I am confident that they will excel on the international stage,” he said.

“We are working hard to develop cricket in Zimbabwe, and I believe that our efforts will pay off in the long run. We are committed to providing our players with the necessary support and resources to succeed, and we are confident that they will make us proud,” Mukuhlani concluded.
