CONFEDERATION of Zimbabwe Retailers (CZR) will host the 11th edition awards ceremony on November 20 to celebrate, appreciate and honour business players in the retail sector, the body has said.
The awards ceremony will be held at The Rainbow Towers Hotel where a number of delegates are expected to grace the event.
The retail sector is one of the biggest contributors to the national economy.
CRZ was established in 2009 as a Trust with the objective of lobbying for the recognition, growth, development and empowerment of all players in the retail space that includes supermarkets, wholesalers, hardware and electrical, stationery, clothing and IT, among others.
The body strives to articulate retail sector issues of interest in order to strengthen the sector towards its contribution to the fiscus.
In an interview with CZR president Denford Mutashu confirmed that the event has been a success as it complements and appreciate efforts made by retailers and wholesalers in the industry sector.
“These CZR awards have improved how the wholesalers and retailers industry operate in their line of business. The event is expected to attract a number of business executives, the media and policymakers.
“The awards has been going on since 2015 and this year is the 11th edition which runs by the theme Reviving and Reigniting Growth: Celebrating Recovery and Resilience in Retail and Wholesale,” he said.
The awards are meant to recognise and reward outstanding retailers and suppliers in the retail sector, reward the retail players for the critical role they have played to sustain the economy and appreciate the role played by the retail industry in reviving and supporting the local industry.
They are a way of raising awareness and the profile of quality homegrown goods and services and “to celebrate the remarkable and outstanding roles played by the retail companies in rejuvenating the economy, creating jobs and generating wealth for the nation, among other objectives”.
Some of the major award categories include Retailer of the Year, Wholesaler of the Year, Clothing Retailer of the Year, Hardware and Electrical Retailer of the Year, Best Retail Promotion of the Year, SME Retailer of the Year and Retail Personality of the Year, among others.
Regional retailers will also walk away with accolades.
