THE Zimbabwe Masters Cricket Association is hosting the Over-60s Africa Cup from that bowled off on Sunday and will run until October 9 at Old Georgians and Sunrise Sports Clubs in Harare.
Four teams are participating in the tournament: Zimbabwe, South Africa, and two Cavaliers teams comprising players from around the world.
“The team is made up of former cricket players who are still passionate about the game. All costs are borne through players contributing and through sponsorship,” a Zimbabwe team official told NewsOnLine.
“The World over 60 is held by countries bidding to host tournaments but regional tournaments are regularly.”
The competition features a limited-overs format, with Zimbabwe and South Africa competing directly for the Africa Cup. Matches start daily at 9am. The tournament brings together former international and first-class players who continue to play with passion and pride.
The Zimbabwe Masters team, which won a regional trophy in South Africa earlier this year, is looking to build on that momentum at home. The event is expected to promote community, friendship, and active living among older players.
The tournament is part of the Masters Cricket movement, which is growing globally and organised under the International Masters Cricket (IMC).
