Castle Lager Braai Fest Wows Crowds with Top Zimbabwean Acts

THE 10th edition of the Castle Lager Braai Festival at Glamis Arena was a resounding success, with the “Gafa President,” Winky D, proving once again why he remains one of Zimbabwe’s most revered performers.
Born Wallace Chirumiko, the Kambuzuma-bred Zimdancehall star delivered a flawless performance that will be remembered for years to come.
“Let’s make history and create memories. I always cherish the support my fans give and it’s an honour to be supported like this. Will give my all as the Ninja President,” said Winky D, visibly moved by the crowd’s energy.
“I respect every Gafa who are my fans and who have always rallied behind me. We are at Castle Braai Festival, let’s feel good music. Tonight we will party and drink up until all the problems go away. To every Gafa out there and those who are here tonight, just know that your presence means a lot to me and Vigilance.”
The Vigilance leader showed why he is regarded as one of the best in the game. His stage communication, crowd interaction, and effortless delivery left fans in awe. Winky D, who has invested heavily in a live band, made his set interactive with sing-along tracks that resonated with the thousands in attendance.
His playlist featured crowd favourites such as “Dzemudanga” and his latest hit “Drink Up,” featuring Jamaican star Busy Signal.
With such a playlist and commanding stage presence, Winky D once again demonstrated why he is affectionately called the “Bigman.”
During his performance, the award-winning artist thanked his loyal fans for their continued support. “I pay a lot of attention to the people who support me. I just respect my fans with my heart. Layaan and Vigilance are there to make sure everything is for Gafa President to make you happy lyrically, as they will always deliver good music to you all,” he said.
The festival also saw stellar performances from Ex Q, Tamy Moyo, and Nutty O, who kept the energy high throughout the evening.
“I am honoured to be part of the Castle Lager Braai Festival. It means a lot to me. As we gear up for more shows, I will always make sure that everyone gets their piece of cake and enjoys good music like we did at the festival,” said Ex Q.
Nutty O, whose track “Too Much” has received massive airplay, promised fans more music to come. “I always worked hard, and that alone has made me who I am today. I love my job because I am making a living out of it. I just love what I do, and fans should expect more from me. They should expect a new project soon, and this is going to be Christmas bangers. I have done my best, and this is the best way I can honour their loyalty over the years.”
Tamy Moyo also impressed with one of her best live sets, despite performing early when the crowd was still building up. Her stage presence and vocals showed maturity and class.
The ever-consistent Ammara Brown gave a polished and emotionally charged performance. Managed by Chido Musasiwa, Ammara’s act was described by many as “magical” as she performed both her father Andy Brown’s classics and her own compositions.
Other notable performers included Master H, Nisha Ts, Heavy K, and DJ Tira, while the Chillspot Family kept the vibe alive throughout the night. The event was hosted by Butterphly, who kept the audience entertained between acts.
