Inside NetOne’s vision, scribes get a peek at the next-gen mobile play

LEADING mobile‑network operator NetOne hosted a media engagement with local journalists at Paramount Signature in Harare on Friday, giving them an elevated view of the operator’s operations and a glimpse of where the company wants to go in the coming year and beyond.

The event also served as a platform to gather the scribes’ thoughts and views, and to invite them to submit proposals that could help NetOne cement its position in the mobile‑network space.

Above all, the gathering served as a platform to network and recognise the Fourth Estate as valuable stakeholders in the company’s operations.

Speaking at the event, NetOne Public Relations Manager Ernest Magadzire thanked the press for their role in guiding the network provider through their coverage. He noted that the media played a critical role in keeping the company accountable to its clients.

“I would like to thank the members of the media for their work in guiding us throughout the year with their coverage,” Magadzire said.

“We did not do everything right, but you as the media were there to assist us to stay on course.”

Magadzire acknowledged that honest reporting allows the company to improve its service delivery. He emphasised that NetOne views the media not just as reporters, but as partners in development.

“We value the relationship we have built. When you highlight issues, it helps us react and fix problems for our subscribers,” he added.

He pledged that the company would continue to maintain open lines of communication with newsrooms in the coming year.

“Our door is always open. We want to continue this engagement because your feedback is what helps us grow as a business,” Magadzire added.

The event brought together reporters from various media houses and online publications, capping off the year with an afternoon of engagement and networking.
