DANET Leadership Accuses Former Projects Manager of Intimidation and Violence

A controversy is unfolding in Mutare, Zimbabwe, where Wilson Masokowere, former Projects Manager of Destiny of Afrika Network (DANET), is accused of using intimidation and violence to defy a High Court order.
The dispute began when Masokowere was dismissed from his position for refusing to cooperate with internal audits and disciplinary proceedings. Despite a court interdict barring him from the DANET premises, Masokowere allegedly deployed armed bouncers to block police and DANET officials from enforcing the order.
“Masokowere and his bouncers stopped the Messenger of Court and five police officers who accompanied our team from entering our offices. He believes he has connections across Manicaland Province and thinks he’s untouchable,” said Gerald Mabika, DANET’s National Executive Secretary.
DANET’s leadership claims Masokowere is leveraging his alleged “influential connections” to evade justice, with calls for the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) to investigate him for money laundering and corruption.
“He regards himself as a mafia in Manicaland,” a DANET representative noted, highlighting the challenges in enforcing the court’s authority.
Attempts to reach Wilson Masokowere for comment were unsuccessful, with his phone going unanswered.
Meanwhile, DANET has indicated plans to engage the Sheriff of the High Court to enforce the eviction order, amid growing tensions and allegations of tribalism and corruption surrounding the case.
