Sable Lager Powers New Era of ZITS Games Sponsorship
SABLE Lager has stepped into the spotlight as the new driving force behind Zimbabwe’s premier tertiary sports showcase, with Delta Beverages unveiling the brand as lead sponsor of the Zimbabwe Tertiary Sports Association (ZITS) Games.
Speaking at the official launch in Harare on Tuesday, Delta Beverages Marketing Manager for Lagers, Kundayi Pamela Mawema, said the move signals a fresh and youthful direction for the long-running partnership between the beverages giant and tertiary sport.
“Sable Lager is our youngest locally conceptualised clear beer, crafted for a new generation,” Mawema said. “It represents innovation, energy, and a bold future, values that mirror the spirit of the students who take part in these Games.”
Delta’s association with tertiary sport dates back to 2018, with Carling Black Label previously fronting the sponsorship. The introduction of Sable Lager marks a deliberate shift towards a brand that resonates with modern Zimbabwean youth.
Mawema described the ZITS Games as more than just a sporting event, but a platform where ambition, discipline, and national pride converge.
“These Games are a celebration of talent and the future of our nation. Students are not just competing for medals, they are building character and lifelong connections,” she said.
She added that Sable Lager will play a central role in enhancing the overall experience, bringing an added layer of entertainment and social connection beyond the field of play.
“We want every athlete and spectator to feel part of something bigger. Sable Lager will deliver moments that reflect the vibrant energy of Zimbabwean youth culture,” Mawema said.
The annual ZITS Games draw students from tertiary institutions across the country, offering a stage for competition while fostering unity and camaraderie.
Mawema commended organisers and participating institutions for sustaining the platform, urging supporters to turn out in large numbers.
