THE return of the Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire Festival after a four-year break is expected to inject fresh momentum into Zimbabwe’s winter entertainment economy, creating opportunities for businesses across hospitality, transport, tourism and retail sectors.
Scheduled for July 4 at Donnybrook Park in Harare, the festival is making a comeback at a time when large-scale events are increasingly becoming important drivers of economic activity and consumer spending.
Industry analysts say the festival’s return could attract thousands of visitors from around the country, generating demand for accommodation, transport services, food vendors and event-related businesses.
Beyond the entertainment value, the event has evolved into a major lifestyle platform that attracts a diverse audience of young professionals, corporate groups and social enthusiasts.
Organisers have described the festival as a uniquely Zimbabwean experience centred on the outdoors, music and social connection.
“The Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire Festival has always been more than just an event; it is a unique lifestyle and cultural experience made for our Zambezians,” organisers said.
The company has also unveiled a nationwide engagement strategy through Bonfire Micro Events that will be held in Kadoma, Bulawayo and Harare ahead of the main festival.
The regional activations are expected to stimulate local economic activity in the host cities while expanding the festival’s national footprint.
Events industry players say such roadshows help create demand long before the main festival, benefiting local venues, suppliers and service providers.
The return of the festival also reflects growing confidence within Zimbabwe’s events sector, which continues to recover and expand through experiential marketing and destination-focused entertainment offerings.
Tickets have been priced at US$20 for general admission, while a limited number of VIP tickets are selling for US$50.
With organisers expected to announce the entertainment line-up in the coming weeks, anticipation is building among both consumers and businesses hoping to benefit from increased visitor numbers.
