TAGWIREI APPOINTED MINISTER OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT PROMOTION
PRESIDENT Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed businessman Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei as Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced in a press statement released by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr M. Rushwaya, today.
“In terms of Section 104, Subsection (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, His Excellency the President, Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed Kudakwashe Tagwirei as Minister of Economic Development and Investment Promotion,” reads the statement.
“The appointment is with immediate effect.”
The statement was stamped 08 OCT 2026 by the Office of the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, P. Bag 7700, Causeway, Zimbabwe.
Dr Tagwirei is a prominent businessman who runs several companies in Zimbabwe with interests cutting across energy, mining, agriculture, and infrastructure.
He was recently appointed as a Senator in the Parliament of Zimbabwe under Constitutional Amendment No. 3, which expanded the Senate to 90 seats.
His appointment to Cabinet is expected to bolster Government’s drive for investment and economic growth under the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), which seeks to achieve an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
He takes charge of a new portfolio mandated to drive economic development and coordinate investment promotion.
