JAH MASTER SET TO DROP SUMMER TIME TRACKS

ZIMDANCEHALL superstar “Rodney Mashandure” the Hello Mwari Hitmaker, whose stage name is Jah Master, is about to drop his summer time EP.

The 29-year old Award winning artiste who is also known with his famous intro “Kurungayi Kurungayi” in Dancehall circles told Arts & Entertainment reporter Prince Meke that artistes have to keep up with changing times as music standards have improved.

“Expectations from fans are high. This upcoming ep will be a blend of Afro beats and Dancehall. So expext the unexpected. As we enter Summer time will definitely produce good music for the fans,” he said.

He has won several awards to his name including The Best Song of the year, Best Male Artist, Best Zimdancehall with Zimbabwe Music Awards ZIMA in 2021, to say but a few.

He is known for a distinctive sound that blends Dancehall, Afro beats and Jiti elements. He went on to highlight that, he has worked with a different catalogue of producers in his upcoming songs. ‘‘I’m currently working on my 4 track summer time songs which consists of nothing but the best to have ever come.

“Everything is ready. I’m only doing a few touch-ups.

‘‘Music was always a big part of my life. I grew up listening to Dancehall hits & urban grooves.

“I started creating music at the a tender age experimenting with local instruments and writing my own lyrics.

“As I grew older, my passion for music only grew stronger and I decided to pursue it professionally,’’ said Jah Master.

He added: “The community’s energy and resilience inspired me to create music that reflects the experiences and struggles of the people around me.

“My music is influenced by the rich cultural heritage of Zimbabwe, as well as the challenges and triumphs of everyday life.”

He said he is yet to name his Summer time tracklist EP and the released date.

‘‘I am still trying to find a fitting name for the EP.

“However, it explores themes of identity, culture, and social justice while also celebrating the beauty and diversity of Zimbabwean music. The album features a blend of traditional and modern sounds, with lyrics that reflect my personal experiences.”

He added: ‘‘I’m excited to collaborate with some talented artists such as Jnr Spragga on the track “Some more” and other tracks include “Sibongile,” “Power” and “Mangoma Mukoma”.

‘‘We’re working together with my management and producers to create songs that’s both authentic and innovative, while staying true to my artistic vision.”
