Buffalo Souljah Launches New Album ‘Motherland’ In South Africa

ZIMBABWEAN reggae star Buffalo Souljah officially launched his potent new album, ‘Motherland’, at the exclusive Room 130 venue in Sandton on Tuesday evening.

The intimate gathering marked the culmination of a highly anticipated wait for the artist’s latest offering to his legion of fans.

The new album is being hailed as a profound homage to the immense and growing influence of African music on the world stage. The artist, whose real name is Thabani Ndlovu, shared his deep-seated inspiration for the project, highlighting the global dominance of genres born on the continent.

In an interview with our reporter Prince Meke, the No man bigger than God hitmaker Buffalo Souljah said reggae is still a genre that can not be ignored despite emerging genres.

“We are all seeing the incredible journey of amapiano and Afrobeats across the globe. It signifies that the sound has, at long last, returned to its rightful owners – us, the African people,” said Buffalo Souljah.

This sentiment forms the core of ‘Motherland’, an album that seamlessly weaves together Afrotec, reggae, and amapiano into a rich, genre-defying tapestry.

The launch was not just a celebration of new music but a testament to a decorated career. Buffalo Souljah is a veritable force in the industry, with an impressive haul of ten major awards from ceremonies including the Channel O Africa Music Video Awards and the Zimdancehall Awards.

His work has also earned him prestigious nominations at the Afrimmas and the International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA).

Reflecting on his influences, the musician revealed the legends who shaped his sound.

“My artistic inspiration comes from the greats: 2Pac, Lucky Dube, and Bob Marley,” he stated.

His dedication to his craft was evident in his recent hiatus from live performances, a strategic move to pour all his energy into perfecting the ‘Motherland’ project. Expressing his joy at the album’s reception, he added, “I am thrilled with the turnout tonight and immensely grateful to finally share this body of work with everyone. My music is available on all digital platforms.”

Buffalo Souljah is known for his songs like Rugare featuring renowned legend Winky D, Gwenya featuring Kinnah, Munanamato featuring Freeman and among others.
