Chibuku Neshamwari Crowns Mat South and Mash East Winners

TWO more provinces have chosen their winners for the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival, after exciting competitions were held in Beitbridge and Mutoko this past weekend.

In Matabeleland South, the event took place on June 14 at Malaxo Beer Hall. The big winners were Sekusile Dance Group from How Mine, who took first place with their lively and well-performed Isitshikitsha dance. Their energy, dress, and teamwork impressed the judges.

Second place also went to a How Mine group, Beni Arinoti, who danced the popular Beni style. In third place was Blanket Mine Beni, who also performed the Beni dance.

Over in Mashonaland East, dancers gathered at Padhana Bar in Mutoko. Goromonzi Arts came out on top with their strong and exciting Mbende dance, which is known across the world as a proud symbol of Zimbabwean culture.

Zvemberi Arts also performed the Mbende dance and took second place, while Nzwananai Arts came third with the Kwinimbira dance, another traditional style with deep roots.

Both Sekusile and Goromonzi Arts will now move on to the national finals in July, where they will compete against other top groups from around the country.

The Chibuku Neshamwari Festival continues to celebrate Zimbabwe’s culture and traditions through dance, bringing people together in every province.
