Jeketera Renyaungwe Crowned Masvingo Champions
IT was a day of rhythm, pride, and cultural celebration as traditional dancers took centre stage at Masiza Nengere Bar in Chiredzi for the Masvingo Provincial Finals of the Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival on Saturday.
Topping the competition and walking away with first prize was Jeketera Renyaungwe, whose powerful and spiritual performance of the Bira dance earned them the ticket to represent Masvingo at the national finals in July.
Second place went to Dzimbadzemabwe, who brought the Majukwa dance to life with graceful movements and impressive coordination. Third place was claimed by Darerimwe, who also performed the Bira dance, delivering a soulful and spirited rendition that earned them a spot on the podium.
With Masvingo’s representatives confirmed, the road to the national finals continues to heat up. The province will count on Jeketera Renyaungwe to bring the same passion and cultural excellence to the national stage.
The Chibuku Neshamwari Festival, held in partnership with the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) and the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dance Association (ZNTDA), continues to honour Zimbabwe’s heritage through dance, uniting communities in celebration.
