lLEADING Healthcare provider Cimas Health Group has launched the Cimas @80 Media Awards, a celebration of exceptional storytelling in the health sector.
With a total of US$9,000 in prize money, this partnership between Cimas and the media aims to encourage in-depth reporting that sheds light on critical health issues.
Through this collaboration, Cimas and the media will work together to amplify impactful stories, fostering a deeper understanding of healthcare transformation, health and wellness, medical innovation, and public health awareness. The awards will recognise excellence in four categories, with winners receiving US$1,500 and runners-up taking home US$750.
Cimas CEO, Vuli Ndlovu, emphasised that the true prize lies not just in the monetary awards but in changing public narratives about health.
“We want to inspire meaningful conversations that drive positive change in our communities,” he said.
By partnering with journalists, Cimas aims to promote impactful storytelling that can influence healthcare policy, investment, and community well-being.
The awards ceremony will take place on November 20 in Bulawayo, with a panel of esteemed judges comprising veteran journalists, medical practitioners, and representatives from the Zimbabwe Union of Journalists. Entries close on October 31.
The initiative marks a significant milestone in Cimas’ 80th-anniversary celebrations, deepening its long-standing relationship with the media. By working together, Cimas and journalists can create a powerful platform for health storytelling, ultimately benefiting the communities they serve. As Ndlovu aptly put it, “Sometimes, the prize is simply having been in the race.”
