MRCH host Run For a Child Half Marathon

AS the sun rises over Harare on October 19, the streets will come alive with the sound of pounding footsteps and determined hearts.
The Matthew Rusike Children’s Home (MRCH) is hosting the Run for a Child Half Marathon, a charity event that promises to bring hope and joy to the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children.
Reverend Linrlelink Mutendzwa, director of MRCH, stands at the forefront of this initiative, driven by a passion to make a difference.
“This marathon is more than just a sporting event,” he says.
“It’s a platform for our community to come together and support the most vulnerable members of our society.”
The funds raised from the marathon will be used to complete and furnish a classroom block at the Matthew Rusike Academy, a vital step in expanding the educational facilities and providing a nurturing environment for the children.
As participants lace up their running shoes and hit the pavement, THEY will be running for a cause that goes beyond mere athletic achievement – they will be running for the chance to transform lives.
With registration open and tables available for sale, the community is invited to join in and make a difference.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated and will go a long way in supporting our mission to bring joy and smiles to the faces of these deserving children,” noted Reverend Mutedzwa.
The legacy of compassion that drives this initiative is rooted in the selfless work of the late Reverend Matthew Jacha Rusike, who dedicated his life to caring for the less privileged. Today, the MRCH continues his work, caring for 100 children and reaching over 1,000 nationwide through outreach programs.
As the runners cross the finish line, they will be met with the beaming smiles of the children they have helped. The Run for a Child Half Marathon is more than just a charity event – it’s a testament to the power of community and compassion.
