Chibuku Neshamwari Heads to Mash Central, Masvingo
THE Chibuku Neshamwari Traditional Dance Festival continues this weekend with two provincial competitions set for Mashonaland Central and Masvingo, as traditional dance groups battle for top honours in the country’s biggest cultural showcase.
In Mashonaland Central, the festival will be held at The Groove Bar in Mt Darwin on Saturday, May 16, while Masvingo province will host its event at Tafara Madondo Hotel in Gutu on the same day.
Both events are expected to begin at 12 noon and will bring together traditional dance groups from different districts, each exhibiting Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity through music, rhythm, and dance.
The festival, which is running under the theme “Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari,” has already attracted excitement among communities following the successful opening round in Bulawayo last week.
Organisers say the provincial finals are not only a competition, but also a celebration of heritage, unity, and friendship.
Winning groups at provincial level will qualify for the national finals scheduled for July 11, where they will compete for the grand prize of US$15,000.
Members of the public have been encouraged to attend the events and experience the exciting performances that have made Chibuku Neshamwari one of Zimbabwe’s most popular cultural festivals.
