Delta Awards Bursaries to 100 Students in Education Drive
DELTA Corporation has stepped up its investment in education, awarding bursaries to 100 students as part of its drive to support Zimbabwe’s future workforce.
The bursary induction ceremony, held in Harare on Wednesday at the Mandel Training Centre, ran under the theme “Educating Today’s Learners, Powering Zimbabwe’s Future.” The programme targets high-potential learners from underprivileged backgrounds, supporting them from A-Level through to university.
Speaking at the event, Delta Corporation General Manager for Corporate Affairs, Patricia Murambinda, said the initiative is aimed at breaking financial barriers that often block talented students from reaching their full potential.
“Delta remains committed to supporting Zimbabwe’s national development agenda by investing in education and skills,” she said. “Through this bursary programme, we are helping to protect learners’ potential and strengthen the country’s future workforce.”
The company has been running its education assistance programme for more than 20 years. It currently spends close to US$100,000 annually on school bursaries. Over 1,300 students have benefited so far, with total investment reaching about US$2.1 million.
Recipients are selected in partnership with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to ensure support reaches deserving learners from disadvantaged communities across the country.
Beyond bursaries, Delta is also investing in wider skills development initiatives. These include building classroom blocks in underserved areas, training programmes at the Mandel Training Centre, and artisan development through the Delta Technical Institute.
The company also runs a Driver Training School for heavy motor vehicle operators and a Graduate Development Programme aimed at nurturing young professionals.
Through these initiatives, Delta has helped produce skilled workers in key sectors, including healthcare, engineering and finance.
Murambinda urged beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity and contribute to national development.
“Targeted support for deserving students is a practical way to build sustainable communities and a stronger economy,” she said.
Delta’s bursary programme continues to play a key role in shaping Zimbabwe’s next generation of professionals.
