Celebration Centre Erupts as Nxt Gen Xplosion Delivers Night of Worship
HARARE’S gospel music scene came alive at Celebration Centre yesterday as Sound of Revival: Nxt Gen Xplosion brought together worshippers for an evening of prayer, praise and music.
Organised by EventsByGEC, the gathering featured a mix of established gospel figures and emerging worshippers, with performances and prayer sessions creating an atmosphere of celebration and spiritual reflection.
Pastor Lyncolin Kapswara opened the event by grounding proceedings in scripture, quoting Hebrews 12:2 and urging the congregation not to focus solely on performance.
“Do be looking for a perfect performance but look up to the Most High,” Kapswara said.
His message set the tone for an evening centred on worship rather than spectacle, as performers took turns leading the congregation through different expressions of praise.
Jacob’s Generation got the programme underway with a rendition of This Is My Worship, immediately raising the energy inside the venue.
Pastor Mel Mahachi followed with This Is Revival and Yahweh, before moving into a selection of Nigerian gospel songs that kept the audience engaged.
Eli Mambo brought a distinctive flavour to the evening with his chants and interpretation of Yahweh Sabaoth, while Pastor Ellard Cherayi led the congregation in a prayer session.
Yousef Tatenda Gurupira then offered a more intimate performance, using his electric guitar to deliver Agnus Dei and Your Presence, alongside his original compositions.
Pastor Grace Kapswara later led another prayer session before introducing worshipper Larry Gunda, whose performance became one of the evening’s highlights.
Gunda delivered Anochengeta, Wenyasha, Nhoroondo and Kana Mwari Akurangarira, drawing an enthusiastic response from the congregation.
Pastor Michael Mahendere also took to the stage for a prayer session before Nyasha Mutonhori delivered another standout performance.
Mutonhori showcased her vocal range through Yohwe Mwari, Akatendeka, several Shona traditional songs and a high-energy rendition of Mahendere’s Guta Rerutiziro.
Host Pastor Bonnie Deuschle later led a brief worship session before handing over to the evening’s headline act.
Nigerian gospel singer Sunmisola Agbebi, accompanied by her husband Yinka, brought the programme to a close with a spirited worship session featuring My Daddy My Daddy, Eje Jesu and other popular songs.
A surprise appearance by Annatoria during Sunmisola’s set added another memorable moment to the evening, although an emotional moment later saw her break down and leave the stage abruptly.
The event highlighted the growing appetite for gospel music gatherings in Harare while providing a platform for both established and emerging local worshippers.
The range of musical styles, from contemporary gospel and Nigerian influences to Shona traditional songs, also underlined the diversity within Zimbabwe’s growing gospel music scene.
For EventsByGEC, the programme is part of a wider series of worship gatherings designed to bring Christians together through music, prayer and fellowship.
The next major event is scheduled for August 22 at Celebration Centre, where internationally acclaimed gospel musician Sinach is expected to lead another night of worship.
