ZAMBEZI BONFIRE FESTIVAL LIGHTS UP DONNYBROOK

FIRE, music and friendship turned Harare’s coldest night into one of its warmest celebrations as the Mighty Zambezi Bonfire Festival made a triumphant return on Saturday after four years away.

Donnybrook Park was transformed into a sea of glowing flames, laughter and live entertainment on Saturday as hundreds of festival-goers embraced Zimbabwe’s biggest winter lifestyle event.

The biting July temperatures proved little obstacle as patrons gathered around strategically placed bonfires, sharing stories, dancing with friends and enjoying an atmosphere that celebrated the outdoors.

The highlight came when the festival’s iconic giant bonfire was finally ignited, drawing loud cheers from the crowd and officially setting the stage for an unforgettable evening.

Music provided the heartbeat of the festival from start to finish.

Tamy Moyo opened the live performances with an energetic set that immediately connected with the audience. Wearing a signature Zambezi green T-shirt, she had fans singing every word as they danced around the glowing fires.

The Djembe Monks then delivered an energetic fusion of drums and African rhythms, creating an immersive performance that drew even more revellers onto the dance floor.

Takura, popularly known as Mr OK OK, kept the momentum alive with a collection of crowd favourites from his latest EP, prompting fans to sing along throughout his performance.

Between the live acts, DJs Loz, Tino and Klique maintained the festival’s vibrant energy, blending Amapiano, Afro-house and Zimbabwean hits into a soundtrack that kept the party going late into the night.

Closing the show was Urban Grooves star ExQ, whose performance took fans on a nostalgic journey through his biggest hits before introducing newer chart-toppers that showcased his evolution as an artist.

The festival experience extended well beyond the stage. Every guest received a complimentary six-pack of Zambezi Lager upon entry, while gaming zones offered both live and online competitions for those seeking more than music.

Liquid Intelligent Technologies ensured patrons remained connected throughout the event by providing free Wi-Fi, allowing thousands of photos and videos to be instantly shared across social media.
